Miss Keeble

Teaching Assistant

We have a Nursery class for thirty children, with one intake a year (in September) and sessions run from 08:45 – 11:45. In the first days and weeks, ensuring a smooth transition from home to school is of the utmost importance to us, so we will work with parents to make sure they are comfortable that their child is settled.

We operate a Key Worker system. Each child has a specific practitioner to support them in the morning and when they go home, as well as liaise between home and school. All our staff are very well qualified in working with young children and are very experienced.  As well as their group work, children also have part of the session where they can decide what they would like to do either inside or in our outside area.  With carefully structured classroom areas, the children soon feel relaxed in the Nursery environment and are able to settle down to activities that they are comfortable with. These activities often change and develop as their confidence grows.

We aim to help the children become confident, independent learners who are inquisitive and happy children, eager to engage in a rich variety of experiences.

All of the Nursery team here at Woodlands are very committed to developing each child's individual potential and feel privileged to be sharing their first stepping stone of education.

Our Learning

This term, we are focusing on understanding the world in which we live. We will begin by looking at the life cycle of a caterpillar. We are also hoping to grow some plants and vegetables of our own.

During the second half of the summer term, we will be looking at the wider world, our planet, and the ocean. Finally, we will be preparing for transition into reception, as well as a final farewell Early Years Picnic for children and parents.

Rising Threes

At Woodlands we offer afternoon places for Rising Threes. This means your child would be eligible to start the term after they turn three, in January or April.

Our Rising Threes class offers a secure and stimulating environment for children aged 3 years, alongside our Nursery class.  Practitioners form positive relationships with the children, encouraging them to further develop their confidence in selecting resources and activities of their own choice. The children have access to a full range of continuous provision through indoor and outdoor play, promoting all areas of learning and development. A balance of child-initiated and adult-led activities, incorporating the children’s interests, are planned for.

Activities such as imaginative play and group time experiences provide the opportunity for children to interact and form friendships with their peers. Children are encouraged to develop basic skills and become independent in their health and self-care.

Rising Threes places are afternoon only and are limited so if you would like your child to attend Woodlands Nursery please apply.
