SAFEGUARDING & E-SAFETY

Safeguarding / Child Protection

Safeguarding is paramount at Woodlands.  The school will, in most circumstances, endeavour to discuss all concerns with parents about their children. However, there may be exceptional circumstances when the school will discuss concerns with Social Care and/or the Police without parental knowledge (in accordance with the Hertfordshire Child Protection procedures). The school will always aim to maintain a positive relationship with all parents. The school’s Child Protection Policy  is available in the Policies section of this website, along with our e-Safety Policy.

Should you have any concerns, the Safeguarding Officers at Woodlands are:

Miss R Woode - Designated Senior Person

Miss C Watts - Deputy Designated Senior Person

Miss A Finney - Deputy Designated Senior Person

If you ever have an urgent safeguarding concern that you need to report:

0300 123 4043 – call us any time if you're a child or young person being abused.

Call 999 if you're in immediate danger or if a crime is being committed.

E-Safety

In school, the Hertfordshire Grid for Learning provides for a safe and secure online environment. Many parents and carers do seek advice on how they can help their children to 'Stay Safe' online outside of school. These websites provide comprehensive information about online safety and once parents and carers have a wider knowledge and understanding of the issues they can decide what is right for their family.  Within Woodlands, the children are regularly taught about staying safe online – including when using mobile devices.

The internet is an exciting and fun place for adults and children to use and explore educationally and socially.  The challenge for parents, carers and teachers is to make sure our children are aware and understand how to be safe when using the internet and related technologies.

Hertfordshire have produced a list of websites that parents may find beneficial to look at and can be found by clicking the link below:

Online Safety Week 2019

In February 2019 we celebrated Safer Internet Day. But because we know of the importance of online safety we turned it into Safer Internet Week. This was a huge success for all the children here at Woodlands! They extended their knowledge of staying safe online with a range of activities and by 'buddying up' with a  different year to share their learning.  The key messages were tell an adult if you are unsure of something online; keep your personal information private and ask permission or gain consent before taking and posting pictures.
