The school day
Arrival and Collection from School
The school day starts at 08:55 and finishes at 15:15.
Nursery runs from 08:45 to 11:45.
Please ensure that all children are accompanied to and from school by an adult. If your child is in Year 6 and you wish to walk to/from school alone, then a 'Children Going Home Alone Form' needs to be completed and returned to school.
Children should not arrive in the school playground earlier than 8.50 am, and we ask that you do not allow your child to play on the outdoor climbing frames/equipment before or after school. Staff are not on duty in the playground before 8.50 am. On wet mornings, we will endeavour to allow children into their classes at 8.50 am.
We have a breakfast club available from 08:00 - 08:55 and an after school club open from 15:15 - 18.00. Both of these are run by C%L Kidz. For more details about these, click here.
Parking
Please can I remind all parents dropping off/collecting children from school, breakfast club or C%l Kidz, to park with due care and attention. Please also be mindful of our neighbours - do not obstruct their driveways etc.
Extreme Weather Advice:
During the winter months, the UK may experience extreme weather conditions that could disrupt the school day. At Woodlands, we will endeavour to keep the school open subject to adequate staffing and a risk assessment of the conditions. In the event that we have to close the school due to adverse weather, we will always follow Hertfordshire County Council's guidelines and inform parents at the earliest opportunity. If the school does need to be closed, the following steps will be taken:
- Hertfordshire County Council will be notified of the closure and they will update their website accordingly with the school closures in the area. You can check for updates here www.hertsdirect.org
- Closure notices will be placed on the school gates.
- A closure message will be left on the school answer-phone by the caretaker.
- Messages will be sent via 'Parentmail' where possible.
- A message will be left on the home page of the school website.
If you see no changes on the Herts direct website, or the school answer phone message has not been changed to advise parents that the school will be closed, then you can assume that the school is open as normal.
